Our Mission and Our Work
Our training initiative was founded through a shared vision: bringing together legal clarity and clinical insight to support mental health and behavioral health professionals navigating complex ethical and regulatory landscapes. Drawing on experience in law, education, and clinical practice, we develop continuing education programs and practical resources that help professionals strengthen ethical decision-making while remaining grounded in their values.
We believe legal knowledge should empower — not intimidate — the professionals who rely on it. Our approach combines legal precision with plain-language teaching, translating evolving laws, regulations, and professional standards into practical tools clinicians can apply in real-world settings. Through ongoing monitoring of legal and regulatory developments, we ensure our training remains current, relevant, and responsive to the needs of an interdisciplinary workforce.
We take pride in our proactive approach to professional development. Through continuous monitoring of state and federal legislation, regulatory changes, and court rulings, we ensure our content remains current and relevant. Our extensive resource library includes searchable publications on state-specific and federal regulations, while our interactive workshops provide practical, actionable strategies for maintaining compliance and upholding legal and ethical standards.

Our Leadership
Florence S. Huffman, Attorney | Director of Legal Curriculum
Florence is a Kentucky attorney and legal educator whose work focuses on helping mental health professionals navigate complex ethical and regulatory landscapes with clarity and confidence. With more than four decades of legal experience and a background in education, Florence brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to professional training — translating law into practical guidance that strengthens both client care and professional practice.
Her career began in education as a learning disabilities resource teacher following the expansion of federal protections for students with disabilities. That early work shaped her lifelong commitment to advocacy, access, and ethical practice — values that continue to guide her legal and educational work today.
Professional Background
Florence has practiced law in Kentucky for over forty years, with experience spanning estate planning and probate, child welfare and foster care adoptions, nonprofit governance, civil and administrative law, and disability-related advocacy. Her career includes service as general counsel for the Education Professional Standards Board, public defender, prosecutor, administrative law hearing officer, and corporate counsel.
Her regulatory experience includes serving as a contract investigator and later Executive Director for the Board of Social Work, where she gained firsthand insight into licensure standards, ethical complaints, and the challenges facing clinicians in real-world practice.
Earlier in her career, Florence developed seminars for educators and administrators after recognizing a need for practical ethics training within the teaching profession — an experience that informs her approach to interdisciplinary legal education today.
In addition to her legal work, Florence owned and operated a publishing company for seventeen years, strengthening her expertise in professional education, content development, and communication.
